Qnap constant disk activity. I am having an issue with continuous disk activity.

Qnap constant disk activity QNAP and most NAS devices have constant processes which work in the background to optimize things. I am determined to get his fixed. Initially I chalked this up to HGST drives being known to be noisy, but I eventually determined that one drive is defective. Previously the disks would remain silent when the Ubuntu was idle. Many users have tried, with little success, to understand and reduce/control the disk activity. After multiple support tickets I've come to the conclusion that QNAP does not design software with disk usage or silent operation in mind. Nothing seems to work. Hard drives meant for NAS are designed to spin and be in use constantly. Raid 1 disk configuration. One storage pool with 3 separate volumes, each with a shared folder.
